Patient Care Technician

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our General Medicine Unit 15W team. This is a full-time evening shift position that requires a high level of dedication and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes
- Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, and blood pressure
- Measure and record intake and output, including output from drains
- Apply cardiac monitors and oximetry
- Obtain EKGs and perform phlebotomy
- Assist with newborn care, including bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Provide morning and evening care, including bed baths and peri-care
- Assist with pre-and post-operative care, including positioning patients and applying special equipment
- Respond to emergency situations and initiate basic life support
- Document patient observations and report changes in patient condition to the RN
- CNA certification or currently enrolled in a nursing program
- CPR recognition by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 90% correct on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes
- Unit-based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring
- High school diploma required; one year of college or nursing education preferred
This role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull forces up to 50 pounds.
