Position Title: Radiation Therapy Specialist (RTS)

Reports to: Program Management Analyst

Position Summary: Aldevra is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapy Specialist (RTS) tasked with delivering therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation. This role involves utilizing advanced linear accelerators, such as Varian treatment units, and managing patient simulations through CT-SIM scanners, all in accordance with the directives of radiation oncologists. While training will be provided, the ideal candidate should resonate with our core values of SOAR (Strong Integrity and Ethics, Outstanding Teamwork, Accountability-Driven, and Relentless Pursuit of Quality).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and confirm patient treatment plans and machine parameters as part of a quality assurance process before initiating treatment.
  • Conduct quality assurance warm-up tests on treatment units and simulators, reporting any issues to the supervisor or physicist.
  • Accurately position patients on the treatment table in line with established protocols.
  • Capture necessary electronic portal images throughout the treatment process, adhering to departmental standards.
  • Identify emergency patient conditions and provide first aid or basic life support as needed.
  • Maintain electronic records of patient setups and treatments using ARIA and the Computerized Patient Record System.
  • Collaborate consistently with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, nursing staff, social workers, and the Cancer Navigation Team to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an RTS.
  • Completion of a program in therapeutic radiologic technology, with certification or an associate's or higher degree accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology or other recognized accrediting bodies.
  • Compliance with credentialing standards in 42 C.F.R. Part 75.
  • Certification in therapeutic radiologic technology by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy (ARRT (T)).
  • BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Knowledge in specialized areas of therapeutic radiologic technology, including treatment planning and medical dosimetry.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, with some lifting and bending required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Customer-focused and team-oriented work ethic.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining quality.
