Job Summary

The UCSF Neurosurgery Patient Navigator plays a vital role in providing individualized assistance and support to patients throughout their care journey. As a key member of the Neurosurgery team, this position serves as a resource and advocate for patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop expertise in Neurosurgery operations and systems to provide seamless patient care coordination
  • Communicate effectively with patients, faculty, and staff to address patient needs and concerns
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families during the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery process
  • Stay current on inpatient care protocols and attend grand rounds sessions to ensure optimal patient care
  • Collaborate with the Neurosurgery team to ensure patients have full, equitable, and convenient access to clinical services and health education information
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Patient Rights & Responsibilities, Joint Commission standards, and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
