Job Summary

As a Production Operator at Oregon Ice Cream, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. You will work closely with the production team to ensure high-quality products and maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain assigned equipment to ensure daily orders are met.
  • Monitor product quality and make adjustments as needed.
  • Assist maintenance in troubleshooting equipment problems.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, leads, and supervisors on product information.
  • Responsible for programming printers for proper labeling and traceability.
  • Switch production lines between product runs.
  • Monitor metal detectors and food safety systems, reporting issues to QA or Production Manager.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for batching and processing.
  • Follow recipes and accurately measure ingredients for specified flavor, texture, clarity, bouquet, and/or color.
  • Able to follow color code to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Must follow all safety rules, GMPs, and company guidelines.
  • Work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment, packaging product at the speed of the line equipment.
  • Work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
  • Follow established SOPs and verbal work instructions, participating in a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Maintain food safety and quality through completing job tasks and maintaining work areas in a sanitary manner.
  • Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Participate in food safety training.
  • Collaborate on other duties as needed to support company goals.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively.
Work Environment

Oregon Ice Cream has office, manufacturing, and outdoor workspaces. This position requires accessing and working in these areas.

A person must be able to walk, sit, and climb stairs; see, hear, and talk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel tools or controls; use hands and arms to reach.

Frequently lifting/moving up to 50lbs is required; occasional lifting/transferring of objects may be required with assistance up to 75lbs.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to multi-task while remaining calm and working effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of weight and volume measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Great people skills and passion for food and ice cream.
