Job Overview

Position Summary:

  • The Financial Operations Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the Senior Accountants and Controller by facilitating the preparation and posting of Journal Entries, conducting Bank Reconciliations, and managing Investor Reporting along with Balance Sheet and General Ledger Reconciliation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are essential for this role:

  • Preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of the general ledger.
  • Execution of financial reporting and month-end closing activities.
  • Timely maintenance of accounting records.
  • Bank account reconciliations.
  • Daily posting of wire transfers.
  • Management of expense schedules.
  • Preparation of tax returns.
  • Engagement in various projects focused on standardization, controls, audits, and automation as required.
  • Assistance to the Accounting Manager and Controller on various initiatives as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this position, the candidate must meet the following qualifications:

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, ideally in a dynamic and high-volume setting, demonstrating the ability to anticipate next steps, take initiative, exercise discretion, and apply sound judgment.
  • Proficient understanding of accounting principles and GAAP.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and general ledger coding.
  • Possession of a CPA or a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Experience in fund accounting is preferred.
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Prior experience with Great Plains is a significant advantage.
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
  • Effective team player capable of supporting colleagues.
  • Professional demeanor with strong analytical, written, oral, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
  • Ability to interact positively across various functions within the organization.
  • Willingness to accept and apply feedback for performance improvement.
  • Capability to manage shifting priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Effective planning and time management skills.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
  • Able to work effectively amidst interruptions and distractions.
  • Adherence to instructions and responsiveness to management direction.
  • Commitment to extended work hours when necessary to achieve objectives.

EDUCATION / TRAINING:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this role.

  • Typical office environment with moderate noise levels, occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., and regular activities including walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and reaching.
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC.
  • Ability to sit and use a keyboard and/or telephone for extended periods.
  • Ability to work from the office as required.

INTERACTIONS:

This position primarily collaborates with the following internal departments:

  • All Departments including Administration, IT, Human Resources, Operations, and Legal.

  • Fax machine, copier, desktop computer, and/or laptop.
