Senior Molecular Researcher (Molecular Scientist)

About the Role:

The Senior Molecular Researcher will focus on molecular projects, emphasizing assay design, development, validation, and execution in a timely manner. This role involves performing assays or analyses according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and supporting the development of new procedures and improvement of existing SOPs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and PCR scientific services to meet the translational research needs of Precision customers.
  • Design and perform experiments, independently analyze, and present data effectively.
  • Maintain high-quality output with the ability to build efficiency into improving productivity metrics.
  • Coordinate with managers and team members to develop project timelines and meet milestones.
  • Train and mentor junior staff in molecular techniques, data analysis, collation, and presentation.
  • Assist in establishing and improving all procedures and required SOP documentation.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and correcting scientific issues/problems.
  • Identify, update, and implement emerging laboratory techniques.
  • Ensure all experiments are performed on qualified equipment with updated use and maintenance logs, guaranteeing reliability and traceability of the data.
  • Maintain and support safe lab practices and environment.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams in resource sharing and providing technical expertise.
  • Monitor project-related expenses.
  • Serve as a scientific resource to external clients and internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist with writing reports and developing presentations for clients.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's Degree with a concentration in Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field of study.
  • 5+ years' experience in a related laboratory setting.
  • Experience in molecular biology, genomics, or bioinformatics.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and function in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to organize and analyze data, as well as prepare reports.
  • Excellent use of judgment and discretion required.
  • Extended work hours may be occasionally necessary to meet business demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with the following qualifications will be given preference:

  • A PhD in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Wet lab experience in the entire NGS workflow (Illumina or Ion Torrent), from library preparation to sequencing.
  • Experience in quantitative PCR (qPCR), digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), and NanoString is a plus.
  • Experience in DNA and RNA extractions from various sources is a plus.
  • A solid understanding of current GLP and/or ISO/CAP/CLIA standards.

Compensation:

This position offers a competitive salary range of $77,800 - $111,000 USD annually, along with opportunities for professional growth and development within the company.
