Job Summary: As a key member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center team, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Professor to lead our innovative molecular studies. The ideal candidate will be able to develop and implement cutting-edge research programs that align with our department's mission goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration and Teamwork: The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues to attend institutional meetings, serve on committees, and provide feedback and information regarding meeting progress and outcomes.
  • Research Expertise: We are seeking an expert in molecular research with a strong track record of reviewing, understanding, and providing editorial commentary on manuscripts, grants, research literature, or professional communications.
  • Program Development: The ideal candidate will be able to devise and maintain innovative research programs, communicate and interact with colleagues, and generate written proposals for fundable grants.
  • Leadership and Management: The successful candidate will have experience in successfully managing and developing research personnel, establishing fair and objective performance review measures, and presenting research findings through publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Communication and Representation: We are seeking a candidate who can effectively communicate research goals, efforts, and findings, and participate in national scientific organizations, committees, and conferences.
  • Adherence to Policies: The ideal candidate will be familiar with and adhere to institutional/departmental biohazard, safety, and administrative policies/procedures.
  • Representation and Community Engagement: The successful candidate will represent the Department in local, regional, state, national, and international matters designated and pertaining to the field of pediatrics.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in an intense interpersonal context, team building, and academic, clinical, administrative personnel.
  • Role Modeling: We are seeking a candidate who can serve in an exemplary and ethical manner as a role model to colleagues, students, and staff.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Doctorate-level degree in a field appropriate to faculty role and department mission.
  • Experience: At least 2 years as postdoctoral fellow or Instructor, or equivalent time as a basic scientist.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Target base salary: $80,000 to $100,000, incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, relocation support (as applicable).
