Position Overview

The Field Organizer for the Waterbury and Greater Waterbury Area plays a pivotal role in The Connecticut Project (TCP), a dedicated organization focused on social transformation. TCP aims to create a fair and prosperous Connecticut where factors such as race, gender, income, and geography do not dictate opportunities.

Role Responsibilities

As a Field Organizer, you will be integral to TCP's outreach initiatives, reporting directly to the Manager of Mobilization and Field Strategy. Your primary duties will include:

1. **Outreach Execution**: Implement a comprehensive outreach strategy to identify, recruit, and mobilize community leaders and supporters. This includes engaging in voter outreach, volunteer recruitment, and fostering community partnerships.

2. **Canvassing**: Dedicate a minimum of four hours, three days a week, to canvassing efforts aimed at building relationships and support for TCP's mission.

3. **Follow-Up Engagement**: Conduct 5-10 one-on-one follow-up conversations weekly with leads generated from canvassing activities.

4. **Community Convenings**: Organize and host monthly gatherings for local communities to foster engagement and collaboration.

5. **Leadership Development**: Aim to cultivate 20 new community leaders annually, enhancing the grassroots activism pipeline within the region.

6. **Network Building**: Create a robust network of engaged supporters using various communication tools and platforms in collaboration with TCP staff.

7. **Training Support**: Assist in developing training materials and support for TCP's field program, focusing on effective voter engagement strategies.

8. **Advocacy Execution**: Implement grassroots advocacy initiatives, including lobbying efforts, town hall meetings, and community leadership conferences.

9. **Relationship Management**: Build and maintain strong relationships with local political figures, partner organizations, and activist groups.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for TCP's mission and possess the following skills:

- **Organizational Experience**: Previous experience in community organizing, canvassing, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
- **Leadership Skills**: Ability to inspire and motivate team members while fostering a collaborative environment.
- **Communication Proficiency**: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in leading discussions and producing quality materials.
