About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our team at Northstar Behavioral Health. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing person-centered care to our clients in an opiate and stimulant specific program.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain current knowledge of house and client activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Plan work tasks to coincide with programming requirements, prioritizing client needs and well-being.
  • Set priorities in monitoring clients, making house rounds, and documenting pertinent information.
  • Provide assistance and support to clients in a friendly, respectful, and dignified manner.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills and adaptability.
  • Work independently with minimal direction, maintaining a high level of dependability and reliability.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of program philosophy, policies, and procedures, including 245G requirements and Minnesota Statutes.
  • Complete and assist with intake/admission procedures, orientation of new clients and co-workers.
  • Encourage clients to achieve their goals by functioning as a positive role model, promoting a culture of recovery and growth.
  • Participate in client recreational activities with a positive attitude, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  • Serve as a resource for clients, providing knowledge of services and opportunities in the community.
  • Administer client medications and document accordingly, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Document client information in the communications log and complete other forms, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successfully complete a background study.
  • Knowledge of 245G and Minnesota Statutes, sections 245A.04, 245A.65, and 245G.05, and willingness to understand, learn, and carry out regulations with integrity.
  • Free of chemical use problems for at least one year immediately preceding hire date and sign a statement attesting to that fact.
  • Must be eighteen years old. CPR and 1st Aid certified or willing to participate in courses provided by NBH.
  • Must have a valid MN driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet research.
  • Physical ability to perform the responsibilities of the position, including bending, stooping, sitting, walking, and lifting at least 30 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in human services and/or healthcare environment as related to position responsibilities.
  • Direct client care experience with chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation.
