Job Description

BAE Systems' Intelligence & Security Sector (I&S) is seeking a Business Development Director to lead our efforts at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

This leadership position will be responsible for analyzing DHS requirements, strategic objectives, funding profiles, and organizational dynamics to identify, prioritize, and develop new business opportunities.

The Business Development Director will serve as the liaison between the Government and BAE Systems, providing insight on customer mission gaps and objectives to BAE Systems Engineers and leadership.

Key areas of focus include cloud solutions, cyber security, artificial intelligence, and operations.

This position requires an understanding of the DHS mission, end users, and buying organization, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit.

The successful candidate will possess mastery of motivational leadership, analytical thought, and executive communication to bring value to customers and drive growth for BAE Systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and developing DHS pipeline with a focus on cloud, cyber, and AI opportunities.
  • Developing and executing strategic and tactical contact and qualification plans for the capture of key opportunities.
  • Obtaining marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits, and developing marketing strategies.
  • Participating in bid decisions, development of cost strategies, and lead phase reviews.
  • Establishing, building, and maintaining customer relationships and assessing competitor capabilities.
  • Supporting creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies.
  • Participating in IRAD and B&P planning as well as overhead budgets.

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant BD experience, including meaningful DHS expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering technology solutions to the Federal Government.
  • Track record of success in leading and winning contracts over $50M.
  • Ability to identify, establish, and use important customer relationships with senior-level officials and program stakeholders within the defense and intelligence community.
  • Experience leading opportunity captures, including developing overall win strategy, shaping deals with customers, developing teaming strategies, identifying and closing with teammates, and understanding pricing and assisting in developing winning price.
  • Demonstrated background in solution selling and developing new markets with proven leadership from inception to fruition of a strategic campaign.
  • Direct and support new business development opportunities to improve the company's business portfolio, including marketing and customer call plans.
  • Ability to develop, document, and execute a plan for achieving awards/growth.
  • Knowledge of Government contracting and current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors.
  • Knowledge of competitors and ability to model competitor behaviors in the market.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers.

BAE Systems offers a competitive salary range of $159,300 - $270,800, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, health savings accounts, a 401(k) savings plan, disability coverage, and life and accident insurance.
