PRIMARY ROLE


Under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Vice President of Finance is tasked with steering the strategic direction and oversight of the organization’s financial operations.

This role involves establishing the processes and implementing the necessary infrastructure and systems to support the sustainable growth of the organization.

The incumbent will provide the leadership and strategic foresight required to ensure that both short-term and long-term objectives of the organization are achieved.

Additionally, he/she will lead, mentor, and retain a high-performing financial team to fulfill the organization's mission.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Engage in initiatives that promote Joy In The Workplace across the organization.
  • Assess and provide insights on the implications of long-term planning, new program introductions, and regulatory changes.
  • Generate timely and precise analyses of budgets, financial reports, and trends to assist senior leadership in organizational decision-making.
  • Offer expert financial guidance to department heads and other personnel within the financial sector.
  • Provide strategic financial input on decision-making matters affecting the organization, including potential partnerships, mergers, and new program development.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to formulate and maintain budgets; discuss issues and coordinate activities with directors to resolve challenges; provide regular financial updates to ensure alignment with budget expectations.
  • Act as a Financial Advisor on contracts and agreements, overseeing grant administration.
  • Partner with senior leaders to shape the strategic vision of the organization, fostering relationships and exploring growth opportunities.
Financial Management & Administration

  • Develop, implement, and enforce organizational policies and procedures to enhance grant management and operations.
  • Provide leadership for programs funded by various sources, ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Manage retirement planning and ensure adherence to relevant regulations.
  • In collaboration with the Finance Department, establish a reliable cash flow projection process to meet operational needs.
  • Create and implement effective financial and accounting systems to enhance organizational productivity while fulfilling its community service mission.
  • Supervise and manage the annual budgeting process.
  • Advise on financial implications during contract negotiations.
Billing Oversight

  • Ensure the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of billing processes to facilitate effective billing of all third-party payers.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer. Duties and responsibilities may evolve or new ones may be introduced as necessary.
Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • At least five years of leadership and managerial experience with a proven track record in building high-performing teams.
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience, including expertise in:
o Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience in budget development and management

o Significant experience in a healthcare environment of comparable size and scope

o At least five years of grants management experience involving federal, state, and private funding

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER (KSAO's)

  • Proven ability to execute complex financial models and forecasts. Candidates should possess advanced experience with financial software, including but not limited to MIP, and familiarity with Electronic Health Systems or other Practice Management Systems is highly desirable.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:


The Senior Vice President of Finance reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the administration of the organization and the fulfillment of all functions and responsibilities.

This role provides strategic leadership and management to the Finance and Billing Departments.
