Job Summary:

Sunrise Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reliability Lab Technician to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for building, debugging, testing, repairing, and upgrading computer prototypes, as well as assisting engineers in the evaluation of new electronic components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prototype Development: Design, build, and test computer prototypes, including computers, servers, peripherals, programs, and software/firmware.
  • Component Evaluation: Assist engineers in evaluating new electronic components, including circuit boards, soldering, and electronics.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Document prototype construction and maintain pertinent engineering records, including inventory/track/ship materials.
  • Lab Management: Perform Lab Management responsibilities to maintain and organize a clean and efficient lab, including materials management.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to engineers and other team members, including troubleshooting and resolving issues related to computer system failure.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma required; Associate degree in Electronics, Certificate of Completion of Technical School, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of engineering test, debug, tech support, or relevant experience; experience within a computer hardware environment preferred.
  • Skills: Fundamental understanding of computer architecture and components, including CPU, power supply, memory, graphics cards, flash memory, etc.; knowledge of circuit boards, soldering, and electronics; ability to diagnose root cause of computer system failure and isolate components/failure nodes.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people at various levels in the organization.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift to 50 pounds when necessary; ability to climb ladders when needed; ability to wear personal protective gear correctly when necessary; ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods without loss or reduction of productivity.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in hand soldering.
  • Understanding in Reliability testing (Thermal, EMI/EMC and/or Shock & Vibe).
