Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in our multi-disciplinary treatment team, providing direct care to behavioral health patients under the medical direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).

The primary focus is on direct patient care, as directed and delegated by the RN, Operation Supervisor, Operations Administrator, or Clinical Director.

The BHT is also responsible for ensuring the safety of the unit they are assigned to, identifying environmental and patient-specific safety concerns, and elevating those concerns to the RN, RN Manager, Operations Supervisor, or designee, as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care as directed by the RN, Operation Supervisor, Operations Administrator, or Clinical Director.
  • Ensure the safety of the unit, identifying and addressing environmental and patient-specific safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in counseling, psychology, or a healthcare-related field preferred.
  • At least six months of clinical healthcare experience, with exposure to behavioral and/or medical crisis situations preferred.
  • Minimum of six months of recovery from substance use and/or mental health disorders preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification (current and in good standing) is preferred.
  • Emergency Medical Technician certification is preferred.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant certification is preferred.
