Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Member Services Representative to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Providence. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our members, guests, and program participants, while promoting and selling memberships and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to the individual needs of our members and guests, providing a supportive and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Provide excellent service, contributing to member retention and satisfaction.
  • Answer all telephone calls in a professional manner, maintaining a positive and respectful tone.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the lobby area, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all.
  • Conduct interviews and tours, selling memberships and promoting our programs and services.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, and staff, fostering a sense of community and connection.
  • Retain membership confidentiality, handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Reconcile end-of-shift money, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions.
  • Provide administrative support, including typing, data entry, photocopying, filing, and faxing.
  • Serve others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting members, and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.
  • Handle and resolve membership concerns, informing supervisors of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled shifts, obtaining substitute coverage when unable to work.

Qualifications
  • Previous customer service, sales, or related experience.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 60 days of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
