Position Overview

Seneca Family of Agencies is seeking dedicated Educational Support Specialists to deliver instructional, therapeutic, and behavioral assistance to students in grades K-5. Our specialists play a crucial role in fostering a positive educational atmosphere through effective behavior management, coaching, and skill development strategies. In this role, you will also provide community and in-home support to complement the educational efforts within the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and other educational professionals.
  • Develop strong therapeutic relationships with students to enhance their engagement and progress towards individualized objectives.
  • Assist in academic instruction by providing both individual and group support as directed.
  • Support the implementation of classroom modifications and accommodations as outlined in students' individualized education plans (IEP) or other relevant plans.
  • Deliver direct behavioral interventions to reduce disruptive behaviors and promote positive engagement in academic and social activities.
  • Ensure the safety of students through effective supervision at all times.
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's training protocols, which may include physical management of clients when necessary.
  • Contribute to a vibrant school culture by participating in or leading activities that celebrate achievements and foster joy.
  • Maintain effective communication with families and all stakeholders involved in the student's educational journey.
  • Complete necessary data collection and documentation to evaluate service effectiveness and support team decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Education/Experience requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree OR
    • Associate degree with one year of relevant experience OR
    • High school diploma with two years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with youth in educational or mental health settings.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Work Schedule
  • School-based schedule:
    • Monday to Friday: 8 AM - 4:30 PM
    • Includes 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days.
