Key Responsibilities:- Manage a team of employees and provide guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service.
- Schedule employees and approve/reject time-off requests.
- Place daily/weekly orders with the guidance of the Department Lead.
- Provide excellent customer service, including greeting customers and responding to their inquiries and complaints.
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques to meet or exceed sales goals.
- Ability to bag merchandise and assist in returning shopping carts and baskets to designated areas.
- Reports all irregular issues and problems to the Department Lead for solutions.
- Exceeds Customer Service Department's sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures.
- Opens and closes assigned cash registers, counts opening and closing cash and other transactions, and checks IDs for tobacco and alcohol transactions.
- Processes purchases quickly and efficiently, processes returns and credits customers, and conducts transactions professionally.
- Works various shifts, days or nights as assigned by Department Lead in accordance with the Company's business needs.
- Organizes and stocks Customer Service display areas per store's layouts, planograms, and standards.
- Setting up and maintaining the condition of the Customer Service Section according to company standards.
- Proactively supports any promotional activity within the store and contributes to an effective working environment.
- Ensures that all Customer Service products are in their right place, so employees and shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily.
- Maintains good communication with Store Management/Department Lead, associates, and suppliers/vendors.
- Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service.
- Able to read, write, and do simple math problems.
- Able to interpret, understand, and follow instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Has or willing to obtain a CA Food Handler's Certificate.
- Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 100 lbs. with a lifting aid. And up to 20 lbs. without aid. Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks.
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk and move rapidly, bend, stoop, climb, twist, and turn frequently. Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary. Must be able to operate related equipment such as scissors, knives, scales, handheld scanners/readers, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of basic math, weights, and measures. Ability to learn section policies and procedures.
- Exposure to potential hazards exists concerning equipment and work aides necessary to perform the job duties.
