Key Responsibilities:
Overview

The Registered Nurse in Quality Control is responsible for conducting thorough reviews of various clinical functions, including Chronic Illness Clinics, care evaluations, and medication/treatment administration.

This role involves performing chart reviews and engaging in quality improvement initiatives within Health Services.

The RN in Quality Assurance executes departmental duties as outlined below, adhering to current federal, state, and local standards and regulations.


Primary Duties:
  • Assist with inquiries from external agencies during audits or reviews.
  • Support the development of processes and procedures to ensure quality patient services and compliance with professional standards.
  • Engage in problem identification and data collection (audit).
  • Analyze data results, implement necessary changes, and monitor outcomes to ensure issues are resolved or require further improvement.
  • Utilize client audit tools to oversee clinical compliance of patient care and assist in creating corrective action plans for indicators with compliance below 90%.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, understand work processes, determine root causes of variations, develop viable change options, measure impacts of improvements, and recommend actions for further enhancements.
  • Identify non-compliance areas and facilitate the integration of standards into work processes and systems.
  • Monitor long-term hospital inpatient admissions and communicate clinical concerns to the corporate utilization review department.
  • Assist the Health Service Administrator in providing clinical data to clients.
  • Evaluate the impact of improvement initiatives and review outcomes during monthly and quarterly Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) meetings. Ensure that improvement activities are documented and reported within the organization.
  • Plan and organize quality control programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of medical records and reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required Competencies:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
  • Maintain a current copy of the license on file at the facility.
  • Two (2) years of direct work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and infection control standards.
  • Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work independently in performing nursing assessments and provide appropriate treatment following approved protocols.
  • Proficient in using computers and relevant software.

Facility Overview:
The facility offers a comprehensive range of correctional services, including dental, medical, and psychological care, as well as education and vocational training.

Work and educational programs are designed to reduce recidivism and encompass academic and vocational education, vocational planning, substance abuse education, general counseling, life skills, and transition planning.


Compensation:
Pay ranges from USD $43.00 to USD $49.85 per hour.
