Vaco is seeking a dedicated Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews of accounts payable and receivable transactions to ensure accurate posting to the correct general ledger accounts.
- Assess expense reimbursement claims and company credit card expenditures for adherence to the organization's Travel and Entertainment policies.
- Reconcile bank accounts related to deposits and disbursements with the general ledger and trust account records, while addressing any aged deposits and outstanding checks.
- Prepare detailed schedules for balance sheet accounts to confirm the accuracy of account balances and provide insight into balance sheet activities.
- Analyze balance sheet, income, and cash flow statements to detect trends, discrepancies, variances, and errors that require documentation or reclassification.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries to capture necessary accruals and adjustments for identified discrepancies in general ledger accounts.
- Create supplementary schedules and narratives to accompany financial statements and reports presented to management.
- Compile special financial reports as requested by management, involving the collection, analysis, and summarization of both operational and financial data.
- Assist in the formulation of the annual budget and subsequent periodic forecasts.
- Gather essential reports, schedules, and documentation needed for external audits.
- Propose enhancements to current accounting and reporting practices.
- Undertake additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Full-time position, standard business hours.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- 2 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with comprehensive accounting software.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset.
