Job Overview

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities:

Overview of Role

Under general supervision, responsible for setting up and operating various machinery including surface grinders, lathes, mills, Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM), and CNC machines to execute diverse machining tasks on components such as blades, vanes, and shrouds for turbine jet engines.

Core Duties
  • Interprets process instruction sheets, technical drawings, and reference documents to perform tasks.
  • Applies both general and specialized knowledge to ensure work meets all quality assurance standards.
  • Utilizes measuring tools including scales, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to verify work accuracy.
  • Facilitates seamless product flow throughout the repair process.
  • Configures, adjusts, verifies programming, and operates CNC machines for complex machining operations.
  • Demonstrates capability to maintain close tolerances and achieve required surface finishes.
  • Sets up and operates various types and brands of CNC machinery.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area and contributes to team housekeeping efforts.
  • Follows all safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures, and reports safety concerns while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assists in the training of new team members.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 18 months of experience in CNC machining or completion of 30 college credit hours in CNC operations from an accredited institution.
  • Availability to work overtime and various shifts as needed.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; capable of interpreting written procedures and following verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated skill in using measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, and calipers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in CNC Machining or a 2-year certificate in CNC operations.
  • Proven ability to work independently and identify process improvements.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Commitment to promoting safe work practices.
  • Effective communication skills.

Compensation Level

HRLY AVIATION

This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers may depend on the ability to obtain authorization for access to such information from the U.S. Government.
