Position Summary
Key Responsibilities:
Position Purpose
Under general oversight, sets up and operates various machines including surface grinders, lathes, mills, Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM), and CNC machines to execute diverse machining tasks on components such as blades, vanes, and shrouds for turbine jet engines.
Core Duties
- Interprets process instruction sheets, technical drawings, and reference documents
- Applies both general and specialized knowledge to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards
- Utilizes precision measuring tools like scales, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to assess work
- Facilitates efficient product flow throughout the repair process
- Configures, adjusts, verifies programming, and operates CNC machines for complex machining operations
- Maintains close tolerances and required surface finishes
- Operates various types and brands of CNC machinery
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of the work area, contributing to team housekeeping efforts
- Follows all safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures, and utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assists in training new team members
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 18 months of CNC machining experience or 30 college credit hours in CNC operations from an accredited institution
- Availability to work overtime and flexible shifts
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; capable of interpreting written procedures and completing necessary documentation
- Demonstrated skill in using measuring instruments, including scales, micrometers, calipers, and surface testers
- Associate's degree in CNC Machining or a two-year certificate in CNC operations
- Proven ability to work independently and identify process improvements
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively
- Commitment to promoting safe work practices
- Effective communication skills
Compensation Level
HRLY AVIATION
This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers may depend on the ability to obtain authorization for access to such information from the U.S. Government.
