Position Overview

The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the Quality Manager in maintaining and enhancing the company's quality management system, AS9100.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Engage with customers, regulators, and suppliers to address issues and ensure satisfaction.
  • Lead the supplier approval process by evaluating business controls, risk management, and quality capabilities.
  • Conduct supplier validation audits and prepare comprehensive audit reports.
  • Perform internal and external audits in accordance with AS9100 and customer standards.
  • Facilitate the resolution of unresolved supplier quality issues by collaborating with suppliers to develop corrective action plans.
  • Participate in supplier recovery initiatives by managing technical issue information and analyzing metrics for trends.
  • Assist in the maintenance of employee training programs by organizing and documenting training activities.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve quality-related challenges.
  • Draft or assist in the creation of procedures, instructions, forms, and training materials.
  • Review and interpret purchase orders, drawings, and specifications accurately.
  • Occasionally visit manufacturing facilities, trade shows, and customer/vendor events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role primarily involves working in a busy office setting with standard office equipment. Some tasks may require time spent in a warehouse environment. The employee will frequently use a computer and other office equipment, with occasional requirements to lift or carry items up to 35 pounds. The work environment noise level is typically low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in English language and composition.
  • 7+ years of experience in a Senior Inspector or Quality Engineer role.
  • Relevant training and experience to meet job expectations.
  • Intermediate skills in mathematics, including arithmetic and algebra.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver timely results.
  • Flexibility to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing projects.
  • Professional interaction with customers and suppliers.
  • Willingness to travel for work (up to 5%).
  • Training and experience in internal/external auditing.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, including ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102.
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action processes and tools.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with technical procedures and engineering documents.
  • Robust background in supplier approval and management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
