Responsibilities
System Administration:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the customer's lab environments, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat).
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system resources to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. Implement proactive measures to identify and address potential bottlenecks or performance degradation.
Security Management:
Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and malware threats.
Backup and Disaster Recovery:
Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for Linux systems.
Patch Management:
Manage the patching process for Linux servers, including scheduling, testing, and deploying software updates and security patches in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with patch management policies and procedures.
Automation and Scripting:
Develop automation scripts and tools using shell scripting (e.g., Bash), Python, or other scripting languages to streamline system administration tasks, automate repetitive processes, and improve operational efficiency.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including key stakeholders, to support project initiatives and resolve technical issues.
Documentation:
Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and training purposes.
Technical Support:
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to internal users and teams regarding Linux-related issues. Diagnose problems and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Requirements
U.S. Citizenship
Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
Must have an active Secret clearance and obtain a TS/SCI clearance
8+ years of directly relevant experience in Linux System Administration
Proficiency in managing and maintaining Linux servers (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
Strong understanding of Linux file systems, permissions, and security
Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and Lambda
Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.)
Experience with network troubleshooting and security (firewalls, security groups, NACLs)
Desired Skills
Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) for automation and task management
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of U.S. Government IA policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and objectives
Education
Six (8) or more years of direct experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cyber Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
