Counter Sales Associate (Plumbing & HVAC Supply)

Charlottesville Noland is seeking dedicated full-time Counter Sales Associates to join our dynamic team. Our operational hours are Monday – Friday from 7am-4:30pm.

  • Annual Profit Sharing Bonus – Up to 10% of annual compensation based on individual and company performance (eligible after the first year).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional service to customers at the counter and through various communication channels, providing pricing, lead times, and product application information.
  • Efficiently pick items from the warehouse to fulfill customer orders for counter sales, will call, or delivery.
  • Assist customers with warranty inquiries and returns as necessary.
  • Inform customers about promotions, bulk purchasing options, and other incentives.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and counter sales area; restock items and arrange displays as needed.
  • Engage in problem-solving with customers to identify the right products for their needs.
  • Continuously learn about new products and apply this knowledge to assist customers in finding effective solutions.
  • Keep supervisors informed of frequently requested items that are out of stock; report inventory issues and suggest adjustments to reorder levels.
  • Assist in fulfilling orders from the warehouse as required.

Qualifications/Experience:Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bilingual proficiency - candidates fluent in English/Spanish are preferred.
  • Prior experience in counter sales, plumbing, or HVAC knowledge is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates without experience should expect to spend the initial 1-3 months in the warehouse for on-the-job training.
  • Ability to quickly grasp organizational procedures and operations.
  • Capability to analyze basic administrative details and rectify routine errors.
  • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to maintain accuracy in arithmetic and statistics.
  • Effective oral communication skills.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Willingness to learn our business software (WISE) to generate sales orders and perform other specific duties.
  • Must collaborate well with others, assisting management, colleagues, customers, and others in achieving their goals.

Physical Demands:The physical demands for this position are representative of those necessary to successfully perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other equipment.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
