Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Responsibilities- Perform cardiac diagnostic sonographic examinations to record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data on patients.
- Prepare test data for interpretation by physicians and ensure timely communication of results.
- Collaborate with physicians to maintain a turn-around time of 24 hours for reports.
- Provide excellent patient care and education, using age-appropriate guidelines and good customer service techniques.
- Review medical records before each procedure to validate the presence of a physician order.
- Perform M-mode, 2-D echocardiogram, and cardiac Doppler procedures within 24 hours of receipt of the request.
- Facilitate the training of echo staff as a preceptor or assist in the assurance of staff competency and job-specific performance.
- Prepare preliminary reports for echo studies to improve patient care by decreasing response time for results.
- Assist cardiologists in data evaluation and storage equipment to facilitate comparative studies.
- Perform vascular studies, including carotid, venous Doppler, and arterial studies, if cross-trained.
- Perform all activities with a patient-focused attitude and incorporate customer service in every aspect of related duties.
- Coordinate the student intern program with associated schools for diagnostic training and evaluate students.
- Maintain patient records, patient logs, and submit monthly statistics for the vascular section.
- Schedule patients for diagnostic procedures and instruct outpatients on proper registration procedures.
- Submit charges and credits as needed for completed or canceled procedures.
- Perform PM on equipment and troubleshoot problems, evaluating equipment for upgrade and replacement.
- Comply with infection control and safety procedures.
- Conduct QA/PI for echocardiography studies.
- High School diploma and/or general equivalency diploma (GED).
- Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular training program.
- One year experience in all phases of echocardiography testing.
- Telephone, copier, fax machine, computer, and printer operation.
- Echocardiographic ultrasound machine, vascular ultrasound machine, PVR, various computer systems, PACS, wheelchairs, stretchers.
- Assume on-call as needed.
- Strong basic medical knowledge, with emphasis on cardiac ultrasound and cardiology.
- Good communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, capable of supervising and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to participate in intra- and inter-departmental activities and perform in a team environment.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
- RCT registered or eligible preferred.
