We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing cardiac diagnostic sonographic examinations, preparing test data for interpretation by physicians, and educating patients on the diagnostic procedures.
Responsibilities- Prepare test data and distribute it to physicians for interpretation.
- Contact physicians regarding outstanding reports to maintain a turn-around time of 24 hours.
- Educate patients on the diagnostic procedure using good customer service techniques.
- Review medical records before each procedure and validate the presence of a physician order.
- Perform M-mode, 2-D echocardiogram, and cardiac Doppler procedures within 24 hours of receipt of the request.
- Facilitate the training of echo staff as a preceptor or assist the preceptor in ensuring staff competency and job-specific performance.
- Prepare preliminary reports for echo studies to improve patient care by decreasing response time for results.
- Assist cardiologists in data evaluation and storage equipment to facilitate comparative studies.
- Perform vascular studies, including carotid, venous Doppler, and arterial studies, if cross-trained.
- Perform all activities with a patient-focused attitude and incorporate customer service in every aspect of related duties.
- Coordinate the student intern program with associated schools for diagnostic training.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular training program.
- RCT registered or eligible preferred.
- BLS certification.
- One year experience in all phases of echocardiography testing.
- Assume on-call as needed.
- Strong basic medical knowledge with emphasis on cardiac ultrasound and cardiology.
- Good communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and supervise in a fast-paced environment.
