Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher to join our team at Ombudsman Educational Services. As a Teacher, you will be responsible for increasing student achievement by implementing instructional practices and strategies endorsed by ChanceLight Education and in accordance with Ombudsman policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Instruction: Provide high-quality instruction to students using curriculum materials and educational software.
  • Develop Lesson Plans: Create daily lesson plans and classroom schedules that reflect state and school requirements.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work with special education teachers and support staff to provide instructional support and approved modifications to the curriculum.
  • Implement Student Behavior Standards: Establish and maintain a safe, secure, and effective learning environment by providing clear expectations and consistency.
  • Communicate with Parents: Maintain regular contact with students' parents/guardians to inform them of student progress, areas of difficulty, and any changes or situations that may affect school performance.
  • Participate in Team Meetings: Actively participate in team meetings to address specific student and parent concerns.
  • Assess Student Progress: Consistently review classroom data collection and recording systems to assess student progress.
  • Stay Current with Research: Keep up-to-date with research-based practices and developments in the subject area.
  • Respond to Feedback: Respond constructively to formal and informal feedback.
  • Perform Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher: A bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field.
  • Teaching Certification: Meet all state teaching certification and/or licensing requirements.
  • Experience in Education: Prior experience working with curriculum development, differentiation, and instruction in an education and/or classroom setting.
  • Skills and Abilities: Highly skilled in working with staff and students with diverse needs at various levels. Prior experience working with students in an alternative education program setting is preferred.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals and next steps. Knowledge of relevant technology, including experience with instructional technology, computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
