Job Title: Machine Learning Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Research Scientist to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a Machine Learning Research Scientist, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and deploying cutting-edge machine learning technologies to solve complex problems in defense and healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop new machine learning algorithms and techniques to solve complex problems in defense and healthcare
  • Collaborate with a team of researchers and engineers to design, prototype, and deploy machine learning systems
  • Develop and maintain machine learning models and algorithms using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, Darknet, or TensorFlow
  • Work with a team of researchers and engineers to develop and deploy machine learning-based solutions to real-world problems
  • Present research findings and results to sponsors and stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in math, statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, or related field
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, Darknet, or TensorFlow
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques such as neural networks, decision trees, and clustering
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Java
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
