Job Overview

Position Summary: The individual in this role will be tasked with delivering art education to students within a specialized educational framework. Reporting to the Director of Education or the Principal, the educator will have significant autonomy over the classroom curriculum, subject to the Principal's endorsement. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement an art education curriculum that aligns with state standards.
  • Manage the procurement, utilization, and storage of art supplies and equipment.
  • Evaluate each student's artistic strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Foster students' interests, talents, and skills in artistic expression and creativity.
  • Prepare and present quarterly progress assessments for students.
  • Contribute to ongoing student progress documentation as required.
  • Establish and maintain substitute teaching materials.
  • Complete necessary training and perform physical interventions when required.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all mandatory training requirements.
  • Uphold professional boundaries with students and families, adhering to ethical guidelines.
  • Access and utilize the Policy and Procedure Manuals as needed.
  • Promote inclusivity by identifying and addressing biases and inequities.
  • Engage with others in a respectful manner, valuing diverse experiences.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students by reporting potential hazards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One to two years of teaching or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a specialized educational environment with diverse student needs.
  • Thorough knowledge of the subjects being taught.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to differentiate instruction for various grade levels.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

  • Must meet Connecticut State Board of Education certification standards.
  • Possession of 042 Certification – Art, PK - 12.
