Job Description:

As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist at Burrell Behavioral Health, you will play a vital role in facilitating services for children and families, guiding the development of physical wellness plans, and coaching participants on strategies for improved health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide services and functions within the Preferred Family Healthcare Code of Conduct, adhering to all company policies for employment.
  • Demonstrate understanding of health service systems and assist program participants in identifying, securing, and sustaining resources needed for independent healthy living.
  • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team, supporting the development of family plans based on individualized strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences of the family served.
  • Conduct assessments to aid in the development of individualized family plans.
  • Engage families in the wellness process by fostering natural supports, providing education, monitoring skill development, and coaching on family plan action steps.
  • Facilitate the wraparound process and encourage children's/youth's active participation in Wraparound meetings or other service-related meetings.
  • Become familiar with each family's plan to initiate teaching and support interventions and assist families in obtaining goals.
  • Use judgment to identify available options for agencies to meet a particular family's needs.
  • Develop a positive, non-judgmental relationship with each child and family member, modeling appropriate behavior while acting as a role model.
  • Facilitate presentations to community groups or other agencies regarding local resources, services, and youth group activities.
  • Assist families in learning skills for successful health management and self-advocacy.
  • Monitor and assess program participants' functioning and progress, updating team members with relevant information.
  • Assist team members with brokering community resources and linkage to family members and family support.
  • Plan and implement recreational, educational, or other activities promoting families' collective wellness.
  • Participate in organizational processes, as directed by the Project Director, which may include quality assurance, peer record review, and health/safety activities.

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must meet the state qualifications required to obtain the PRSS credential.
  • Documented experience in the area of case management services is preferred.

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a background check, including a criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements, including Relias Learning, at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • A valid driver's license, current auto insurance, reliable personal transportation, and an acceptable driving record are required.
