Role Overview

As a Founding Software Engineer at Scout, your contributions will be vital in constructing a robust, global network of companies and candidates through technology. You will be responsible for designing and developing our next-generation hiring and assessment platform, beginning with our minimum viable product.

Our initial framework utilizes a TypeScript stack on Microsoft Azure, incorporating technologies such as NextJS, MongoDB, Docker, GitHub, and OpenAI, with flexibility for future adaptations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and develop the core product and associated systems (web SaaS model).
  • Create internal tools to support various company functions.
  • Monitor essential product and network metrics.
  • Engage in sales or candidate discussions to gather firsthand user insights.
Daily Activities
  • Design and implement new components or systems for the product.
  • Oversee and enhance existing processes and tools.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in Generative AI through research and experimentation.
  • Gather feedback from sales or community interactions and brainstorm innovative ideas.

Initial 90-Day Goals
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of Scout's context, including domain knowledge and technical goals.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership on technical design and product development.
  • Assist in acquiring and retaining customers and achieving key user engagement milestones.
  • Support efforts to secure additional funding in upcoming rounds.
Qualifications
  • Strong technical and programming expertise.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in developing products from inception to launch.
  • Preferred: Background in education, community engagement, or recruitment.
  • Preferred: Technical degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related fields.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with machine learning or artificial intelligence.
  • Preferred: 4+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in product or full-stack development.
  • Preferred: Experience in DevOps or security.
  • Authorization to work in the intended country of residence is required.
  • Availability for some overlap with US/Pacific working hours is necessary.
