Sanitation Department Lead

Job Summary:
As a Sanitation Department Lead at Bimbo QSR, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision and leadership over the Sanitation department to ensure facilities comply with Country regulatory and Bimbo-QSR Sanitation / Food Safety / Quality requirements. You will be responsible for all aspects of Sanitation Department including the day-to-day management of sanitation associates to achieve required standards in a safe, efficient, and effective manner, and maintaining bakery equipment and facilities in a clean & sanitary manner and keeping all pertinent documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Sanitation program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Bimbo-QSR standards.
- Manage and supervise a team of sanitation associates to ensure effective and efficient execution of sanitation tasks.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with sanitation standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for sanitation tasks and ensure that all associates are trained and competent in their execution.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of sanitation activities.
- Develop and manage the department's operating budget and ensure that all sanitation activities are conducted in a cost-effective manner.
- Participate in risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks to sanitation and food safety.
- Manage and evaluate the performance of sanitation associates and provide coaching and development opportunities to improve performance.
- Develop and implement a training program for sanitation associates to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks effectively.
- Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of sanitation procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, or related field of science from an accredited college or university.
- 4 years in the food industry with at least 2 years Sanitation Supervisor experience in the food industry.
- Thorough knowledge of safety, sanitation, food safety/quality procedures.
- Proper handling of chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, and fumigants.
- Knowledge of bakery operations and production equipment.
- Computer skills-proficient with Microsoft Office (word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sanitation software).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SOP, ISO 22000, Pest Management, Chemical Safety, verification of good cleaning practices and Bakery operation.
- Supervise and motivate Sanitation associates in a team-based environment and interact effectively with associates at all organizational levels.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with internal and external organization verbally and in writing.
- Read and process written information with a high degree of accuracy.
- Work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer Service.
- Good English communication skills (both written and oral). Bi-lingual Spanish is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Must possess the highest possible standard of ethics.
- Demonstrate good organizational and time management skills.
- Take initiatives and be self-motivated; looking for opportunities to improve Sanitation System and plant sanitary conditions.
- Use systematic methods to collect facts and make decisions.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of a regulatory compliance sanitation system.
