Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Student Services department as a Student Support and Engagement Specialist. This role is a critical part of our mission to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective strategies for student engagement and academic success, including campus-wide programming and one-on-one mentoring.
- Provide peer-to-peer support groups and community resource connections to increase inclusion, belonging, and retention, while reducing barriers for all student populations.
- Collaborate with MPTC faculty and employees to ensure students culturally transition to the MPTC campus community through diversity-related programming and educational plan reviews.
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with community support services to promote student success and retention.
- Represent MPTC on committees and task forces related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and community collaboration.
- Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, sociology, social work, human services, or a related field.
- Two years' experience in working with diverse populations or communities or in student services in higher education.
- Knowledge of bilingual-related issues, services, and transition processes required to promote student success in a higher education setting.
- Knowledge of and experience with issues families/individuals face regarding poverty; knowledge of local resources (health, housing, childcare, food).
- Familiarity with student development theory and needs of two-year college students.
- Working knowledge of educational settings, general public relations, and the mission of technical colleges.
- Bilingual written and verbal communication skills in Spanish language.
- Working knowledge of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
