Job Summary

The Cardiac Monitor Technician is responsible for providing high-level surveillance of patient cardiac rhythms and notifying nursing and clinical staff of any changes. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills to ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac rhythms and notify nursing/clinical staff of any rate/rhythm changes according to clinician/provider orders.
  • Measure and interpret patient heart rhythms and document on patient record per departmental standards.
  • Initiate and discontinue monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge.
  • Perform configuration as necessary.
  • Perform clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information from Central Telemetry.
  • Answer telephone and communicate clearly when receiving information from units or providers.
  • Use clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.
Requirements
  • Experience in telemetry monitoring preferred but not required.
  • Classes and training available.
