Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesiologist Generalist to join our team at the Virginia Commonwealth University. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to deliver exceptional anesthetic and critical care to patients, advance research and quality improvement in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, and train the next generation of anesthesiologists.

About the Department

The Department of Anesthesiology is committed to providing the best possible care to our patients. Our department is dedicated to advancing research and quality improvement in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, while training the next generation of anesthesiologists through our residency and fellowship programs along with medical student teaching.

Responsibilities
  • Preanesthetic Evaluation: Conduct thorough preanesthetic evaluations to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Intraoperative Anesthetic Care: Provide expert intraoperative anesthetic care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures.
  • Postoperative Rounds: Conduct postoperative rounds to assess patient recovery and provide necessary interventions.
  • Resuscitation and Intensive Care: Manage critically ill patients requiring resuscitation and intensive care services.
  • Nerve Blocks: Perform therapeutic and diagnostic nerve blocks as needed.
  • Consultation: Provide consultation services in cases of chronic pain.
Teaching Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical teaching to residents, medical students, student nurse anesthetists, and others.
  • Participate in didactic teaching programs and attend conferences, rounds, and staff meetings as required.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree.
  • ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology and/or certified/eligible for Critical Care Certification.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Eligible for employment in the United States.
  • Excellent communication, clinical, and teaching skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a diverse environment or commitment to do so.

Salary

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications, estimated to be around $250,000-$300,000 per year.
