Job Title: Child Care Assistant Substitute

Join Mankato Area Public Schools as a Child Care Assistant Substitute and play a vital role in providing a safe and engaging environment for elementary age students.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and energetic Child Care Assistant Substitute to work on an on-call basis at various elementary school sites. As a Child Care Assistant Substitute, you will be responsible for leading a group of up to 15 children and/or jointly responsible for leading larger groups in cooperation with other staff members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead a group of students, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, promoting positive behavior and social skills.
  • Build a sense of community and establish a welcoming environment for all students.
  • Teach and model life skills, such as problem-solving, respect, and personal responsibility.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup as directed.
  • Maintain strong communication with program staff and stakeholders.
  • Work to maintain a safe and positive environment for all students.
  • Participate in active indoor and outdoor recreational activities with students.
  • Maintain a clean and attractive environment in all programming areas.
  • Attend all staff meetings and required trainings.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must pass a background check through the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
  • Must have the ability to work as a team and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification or must be obtained within first 90 days of employment.
  • Must be physically working in the building.
Working Conditions:

Substitute hours are on an on-call basis for before school, after school, on scheduled non-school days, and during the summer.

Rate of Pay: $13.00/hour
