Job Title: Nuclear Radiation Protection Engineer

Holtec International, a global leader in the energy industry, is seeking a highly motivated Nuclear Radiation Protection Engineer to join its team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing the next generation of nuclear power plants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform radiation shielding, radionuclide release/transport, and dose assessment in support of nuclear plant operations.
  • Develop radiation protection design features and perform radiation shielding, occupational exposure, and site dose assessment for the SMR-160 plant.
  • Prepare reports and licensing documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, collaborators, and regulatory agencies.
Requirements:
  • BS in Nuclear Engineering or Physics from an accredited institution.
  • 0-5 years of experience in the nuclear industry or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with radiation source term, shielding, and radiological-consequence dose assessment tools.
  • General knowledge of nuclear power plant operations and ALARA principles/programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Attributes:
  • MS in Nuclear Engineering with emphasis on radiation protection and dose assessment.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in the nuclear industry or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with radiological release and transport calculations.
  • Experience with computer languages such as Python.
  • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
