Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Summary

Virtua Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with approved techniques and NRC/ACR standards.

You will support Virtua's mission and vision statement and uphold Virtua values and Star behaviors. Adherence to all Virtua policies and procedures is also expected.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform nuclear medicine studies according to protocols established by the radiologist and alter protocols as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Administer radioisotopes and perform venipuncture in accordance with established protocols.
  • Understand and comply with quality control tests to ensure accurate and timely completion of tests.
  • Recognize and report any recordkeeping failures or omissions to management or radiation safety officer.
  • Perform routine calibration on equipment without assistance.
  • Observe safety precautions and use protective devices when handling radiopharmaceuticals to safeguard against unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Prepare kits according to manufacturer inserts and use aseptic technique when preparing radiopharmaceutical kits and injecting patients.
  • Effectively use RIS, PACS, and hospital-based computer programs and adhere to policies and practices regarding confidentiality of electronic communications.
  • Respond to changes in the work schedule, cover all shifts on a rotational basis, and respond on call immediately when contacted by Communications.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Nuclear Medicine preferred.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiology or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Current N.J. license in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Registered by the ARRT and/or certified by the NMTCB preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.
