Nuclear Licensing Engineer Job Description

Holtec International, a global leader in the design and development of safe and secure energy solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Licensing Engineer to join its team. As a key member of the SMR-160 Nuclear Licensing group, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our small modular reactor design meets the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.

The Nuclear Licensing Engineer will be responsible for applying engineering and nuclear regulatory knowledge and experience to support the development of power plant systems and solutions in accordance with US licensing requirements. This includes a demonstrated understanding of 10 CFR Parts 50 and 52, as well as associated regulatory and industry guidance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing licensing documentation, including topical and technical reports, Safety Analysis Reports, and applications for certifications, permits, and licenses.
  • Coordinating with design personnel to ensure new designs and design changes meet regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing and defending SMR licensing position papers for areas where the existing regulatory framework does not apply or requires development of new or revised regulatory requirements or guidance.
  • Supporting project management for licensing activities, including development of licensing submissions.

Requirements for this role include a BS in Engineering from an accredited college or university, 2-5 years of demonstrated, applicable experience in the licensing of commercial nuclear power plants, and a strong understanding of US NRC Parts 50 and 52 regulations and related regulatory guidance.
