Summary: The role of the Educational Support Specialist is to facilitate a well-structured and efficient classroom atmosphere, ensuring that every student achieves success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the educator in the planning, preparation, and execution of classroom activities as outlined in the Individualized Education Program.
- Support students, either individually or in groups, with assignments to reinforce educational concepts.
- Help maintain accurate records and assist in data collection for student performance.
- Contribute to the evaluation and assessment processes led by the teacher.
- Address the communication needs of students.
- Engage in school events, field trips, and extracurricular activities as required.
- Participate in training tailored to classroom requirements.
- Take a leadership role in the absence of the regular educator.
- Assist with the arrival and departure processes of students.
- Support hall, lunchroom, and bus loading duties as directed.
- Engage in debriefing sessions with the educator as necessary.
- Facilitate the movement of students within the school and assist with specialized instruction.
- Support instructional and therapeutic activities directed by relevant support services personnel.
- Assist with personal care tasks, including hygiene and feeding, when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Experience: Educational qualifications must meet federal, state, and local guidelines.
Certification: Certification as mandated by the Professional Standards Commission.

Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Customer Service Skills: Ability to interact effectively with administrators, educators, staff, students, parents, and the public with tact and professionalism.
