Overview:
The Engineering Team Leader is tasked with overseeing engineering operations on diverse projects under the guidance of senior engineering management.

This role serves as the pivotal connection between the Engineering and Operations teams, facilitating the transition from design documentation to the construction phase, while providing support for Requests for Information (RFIs), change order discussions, and other engineering support tasks during construction.


Key Responsibilities:


MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) operates as a $4 billion annual revenue division, delivering construction services for a variety of industrial facilities, including power generation plants, manufacturing sites, solar, wind, and thermal energy installations, as well as general infrastructure projects.


Primary Duties:
- Assist in developing project timelines, assessing subcontractor proposals, and negotiating contracts with engineering consultants.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to track deliverable schedules, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
- Support multiple projects and proposals concurrently under the supervision of senior engineering leadership.
- Gather and organize inquiries from team members and subcontractors for submission to clients via RFIs.
- Participate in clarifying subcontractor scopes.
- Lead design discussions with various stakeholders, including site teams, clients, consultants, suppliers, and utility companies.
- Conduct Value Engineering assessments of preliminary designs.
- Review and audit engineering outputs to confirm adherence to company and client standards.
- Prepare Engineering Work Orders for execution with engineering consultants.
- Develop and monitor unresolved issues during the design phase.
- Track and oversee the progress of engineered drawings and technical submissions.
- Coordinate necessary environmental evaluations and surveys.
- Ensure timely execution of reviews and submissions.
- Facilitate site plan approval processes through internal review meetings.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to clarify contracts and identify out-of-scope client requests.
- Assist in negotiating change orders with subcontractors and engineering consultants.
- Document and archive 'lessons learned' for future reference.
- Travel to project sites as necessary to build relationships with project teams, address engineering challenges, and implement learned lessons.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience in renewable energy construction.
- Professional Engineer certification or a pathway to obtain it is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:

- Proficient in interpreting engineering and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with terminology, nomenclature, and business models prevalent in the construction sector.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Primavera, Procore, InEight, and other construction software.
- Capable of drafting reports, business correspondence, and documenting project activities.
- Effective in presenting information and addressing inquiries from engineering managers, project managers, superintendents, clients, and the public.
- Demonstrated ability to lead efforts in identifying and evaluating constructability and risk factors, assisting in project scheduling, assessing subcontractor bids, and negotiating contracts with design professionals.
