Job Summary

The Patient Safety Monitor is responsible for providing focused monitoring of patient safety through direct visual observation, promoting a safe environment, and alerting clinical staff to potential safety issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain visual observation of patient safety as outlined in facility policies and procedures for patients requiring increased observation.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and respect to patients, families, and significant others.
  • Maintain and document frequent safety observation checks.
  • Identify and report patient safety concerns to clinical staff.
  • Accompany patients to diagnostic testing and procedures, maintaining observation during testing or procedures.
  • Communicate with assigned nurses regarding guidelines for conversations and activities with patients.
  • Primary responsibility is to stay with and/or observe patients, ensuring their safety.
  • Report patient behavior details to assigned RN as needed, as well as to oncoming relief staff at the end of the shift.
Requirements
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff, patients, and families.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to follow policy and procedure instructions.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting performing similar functions preferred.
Certifications and Licenses
  • CPI completion within three months of hire.
  • BLS for Behavioral Health positions.
