POSITION TITLE:
MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY SPECIALIST




REPORTS TO:
PRODUCTION MANAGER

1st SHIFT - 6am to 4:30pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The mechanical assembly specialist is tasked with the assessment and structural assembly of Overhead Cranes. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and the capability to deliver a quality product promptly. The specialist is responsible for overseeing the general cleaning and preparation of mechanical components and sub-assemblies.

  • Assemble all components and subassemblies, including but not limited to gearboxes, electric hoisting motors, wire rope, drum assemblies, and central lubrication systems (experience with stainless steel tubing installation is advantageous).
  • Assemble and secure mechanical and structural sub-assemblies.
  • Utilize the appropriate hardware/bolts per pre-engineered drawings for mechanical and structural sub-assemblies, which may vary by project.
  • Conduct complex machine alignments using dial indicators and reverse indication alignment methods. Previous millwright experience is a plus.
  • Verify bolt tightness/torque using various torquing tools.
  • Rig and lift miscellaneous machine components using chain and web slings.
  • Provide daily updates to the supervisor regarding work progress and any issues encountered.
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment to safely perform all tasks.
  • Operate forklifts to safely transport heavy components throughout the production areas (previous forklift operating experience is a plus).
  • Employ handheld power drills, impact tools, and standard and metric tape measures.

EDUCATION:
A high school diploma, trade school certification, or higher degree is preferred; however, prior equivalent experience and training will be considered.

EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial mechanical assembly.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to interpret pre-engineered drawings. Flexibility to work varied hours, including occasional weekends. Proficiency in the use of Overhead Cranes is essential.

Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50lbs occasionally.
