Role Summary:
The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of carrier operations and demonstrate strong technical proficiency in TMS systems or ERP administration. This role is crucial for identifying essential TMS functionalities, assessing vendor solutions, and overseeing the effective implementation of TMS features.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with stakeholders to define critical technology requirements for carrier operations, including dispatch, pickup, dock management, yard management, line haul, and delivery processes.
2. Identify and document vital TMS business requirements aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction.
3. Develop thorough evaluation criteria for assessing commercially available TMS solutions against established business needs.
4. Lead the vendor selection process, including RFP development, vendor demonstrations, and technical capability evaluations.
5. Manage the TMS implementation life cycle, encompassing data migration, configuration, user training, and go-live activities.
6. Create and execute comprehensive testing plans to ensure system functionality and data integrity.
7. Provide ongoing technical support for TMS development and operations.
8. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (dispatch, operations, IT) to ensure successful system adoption and continuous optimization.
9. Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the transportation and logistics sector, with a proven track record in carrier operations.
- Extensive technical experience in implementing, configuring, and managing carrier-based TMS solutions.
- Deep understanding of carrier operational processes, including dispatch, pickup, dock management, yard management, line haul, and delivery functions.
- Strong project management skills and familiarity with best practices.
- Proven ability to analyze complex business needs and translate them into technical specifications.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated capability to manage and deliver complex IT projects on schedule and within budget.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with TMS selection and implementation tailored to carrier operations.
- Familiarity with integrating TMS with third-party solutions.
- Knowledge of transportation and logistics software solutions.
- Working knowledge of Agile project management methodologies.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range:
Between $80 - $95 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
