The ideal candidate will possess a high level of motivation and a keen interest in exploring innovative solutions, while being adept at distinguishing between subjective opinions and objective data. Key Responsibilities
- Establish optimization parameters, including design responses, constraints, design variables, and objectives, and analyze the outcomes.
- Interpret optimization findings and develop practical, manufacturable solutions.
- Conduct subsystem-level optimization focusing on modes, stiffness, and stress criteria.
- Implement full vehicle mass optimization strategies.
- Engage in multi-domain optimization efforts.
- Optimize casting designs utilizing 2D/3D meshing techniques.
- Perform gauge, free-size, topology, and topography optimizations.
- Experience with multi-material optimization is advantageous.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to devise optimized solutions that meet diverse requirements.
- Work autonomously and provide design guidance during the conceptual design phase with initial design parameters.
- Utilize optimization tools and low-fidelity CAE methodologies to identify optimal load paths, considering multiple factors such as crash safety, NVH, and durability.
- Possess domain knowledge to aid in the development of simplified simulation models for quicker system comprehension.
- Innovate new techniques and processes.
- Offer automation support to enhance team productivity.
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6+ years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of finite element analysis, with hands-on experience using solvers such as LSDYNA and OPTISTRUCT/NASTRAN, along with pre- and post-processing tools like OASYS, ANSA, META, and Hyperworks.
- Proficient in CAE optimization methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of crash safety, NVH, and durability principles.
- Experience with optimization software such as Altair HyperStudy, LS-OPT, modeFRONTIER, Genesis, or similar tools.
- Ability to utilize morphing tools within the optimization workflow.
- Strong scripting skills in Tcl and Python, with familiarity in Ansa/Meta and Hyperworks API being beneficial.
