Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Machine Shop Apprentice to join our team at Highland Industrial Staffing. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up, producing, and verifying parts to meet our high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC Machinery: Safely operate CNC milling machines, lathes, drill presses, sanders, buffers, and bench grinders to produce high-quality parts.
  • Read and Interpret Drawings: Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to ensure accurate production.
  • Assist with Material Management: Assist in ordering, receiving, and storing materials and supplies to maintain a well-organized workshop.
  • Perform Maintenance and Repairs: Repair and modify equipment with instructions from supervisors to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document Work: Complete work orders and document time and material spent on projects to maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Math Skills: Basic math skills required, with the ability to learn shop math and apply it to production.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with staff and management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Self-Starter: Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to accuracy and detail to ensure quality production.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to achieve common goals.
