Machine Shop Trainee

The Apprentice Machinist will be responsible for setting up, producing, troubleshooting, and verifying that parts conform to drawings, processes, and procedures. This role requires versatility within a production environment and the ability to learn various equipment as required. The successful candidate will develop skills in CAD/CAM, SurfCam, DraftSight, G-Code, and AutoCad software.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate CNC milling machines, lathes, drill-presses, sanders, buffers, bench grinders, and various hand tools. Read blueprints, sketches, and follow verbal instructions. Assist in ordering, receiving, and storing materials and supplies. Repair and modify equipment with instructions from a supervisor. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED. Work experience with shop math proficiency and strong mechanical aptitude is appreciated. Basic math skills are required. A valid driver's license is necessary. The ability to lift and carry tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds is essential. Noise and vibration from operating equipment are consistent, although earplugs are provided.
Preferred Qualifications:
A self-starter with good customer service skills and a pleasant demeanor. Ability to maintain a high level of attention to accuracy and details with the ability to use discretion and good judgment. Safely operate various types of machinery used in the trade. Learn to read blueprints, sketches, and closely follow verbal instructions. Operate various types of machinery used in the trade such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, sanders, buffers, bench grinders, and various hand tools. Possess openness to learning new skills and collaborating with other team members to create solutions.
