Activities Director Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Activities Director to join our team at Capistrano Senior Living. As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the facility's Activity Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and document resident interest and involvement in activities, adjusting programming to meet individual needs and interests.
  • Maintain an inventory of programming supplies and stay up-to-date on federal/state regulations and professional standards of practice.
  • Make recommendations for policy changes to improve medically related activity needs of individual patients/residents.
  • Participate in discharge planning, activity care plans, and resident assessments.
  • Perform administrative requirements, such as charting, completing forms, reports, and submitting information to the clinical team or Administrator as needed.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary and develop plans of correction for activity deficiencies noted during survey inspections.
  • Hire, mentor, evaluate, train, and schedule staff members as needed.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years proven experience in a similar position (Activities Assistant or Director for children, seniors, special needs, etc.).
  • Ability to motivate and encourage patients/residents and/or family members, adapting activities to the cognitive and functional ability of each resident.
  • Lead, inspire, and support team members and volunteers to engage residents in meaningful, purposeful activities throughout the day and evening.
  • Ability to multi-task and treat everyone at work professionally.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Works collaboratively and independently, following procedures and guidelines, making recommendations for improvements.
