Coordinator for Barbering and Cosmetology Education

GeorgiaGov is in search of a qualified individual for the role of Full-Time Barbering and Cosmetology Program Coordinator within the Business and Public Service Technology Division. This role is integral to the success of our educational initiatives in the beauty sector.

Position Overview

The Barbering and Cosmetology Program Coordinator is essential in managing both the academic and operational facets of our barbering, nail technology, and esthetics programs. This leadership position involves guiding faculty, mentoring students, and ensuring the overall success of the department. The ideal candidate will possess a valid instructor's license and demonstrate a strong commitment to education and the beauty industry.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development:

Collaborate with faculty to create and refine curricula for barbering and cosmetology programs. Ensure that all programs meet industry standards and licensing requirements. Regularly assess and update course materials to uphold program quality.

Faculty Management:

Recruit and onboard qualified instructors. Provide ongoing mentorship and professional development for faculty members. Conduct evaluations of part-time faculty and address any issues as they arise.

Student Engagement:

Create a supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and achievement. Address student inquiries and concerns effectively. Monitor student performance and implement necessary support measures.

Program Administration:

Oversee departmental budgets, resources, and equipment management. Coordinate class schedules and room assignments efficiently. Ensure adherence to state regulations and accreditation standards.

Industry Collaboration:

Build relationships with local salons, spas, and beauty industry stakeholders. Work with industry professionals to enhance practical learning experiences. Stay updated on trends and innovations within the beauty sector.

Licensing and Compliance:

Ensure the department meets all state licensing requirements. Facilitate the college's accreditation processes and maintain necessary documentation. Prepare reports and engage in external evaluations.

Community Engagement:

Promote the department's offerings through various outreach initiatives. Participate in career fairs and industry networking events. Advocate for the college within the beauty community.

Preferred Qualifications

Instructor's License: A valid instructor's license in barbering, nail technology, esthetics, or cosmetology is required. Experience: Significant background in the beauty industry, including teaching and leadership experience. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Leadership Skills: Proven capacity to lead and motivate faculty and students. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and administrative capabilities.
