  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Check patients in and out, verifying current information and obtaining updated information and paperwork when necessary.
  • Scan patient insurance cards and documentation into the EMR system.
  • Collect required payments, issue receipts, and apply copays or co-insurance payments to patient accounts.
  • Balance charges and fees incurred in the office and prepare daily deposits.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Answer backline calls, screen calls, take messages, and share information with patients, families, and referring physician offices.
  • Interact with clinical staff to coordinate patient care and workflow.
  • Maintain work area and reception area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Print and distribute faxes and mail.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings.

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Centricity and Phoenix EMR a plus.
  • Computer literate with strong typing and 10-key skills.
  • Working knowledge of EMR software preferred.
  • Orthopedic experience preferred.
  • One or more years of experience in a medical receptionist position preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and coding basics, orthopedic experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze various medical situations for scheduling purposes.
  • Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor.
