Job Summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative I to join our team. As a Patient Access Representative I, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately facilitate patient appointment scheduling, relay critical information, and answer questions in a large contact center environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Respond to inbound calls and make outbound calls to patients, families, and healthcare providers to schedule appointments, answer questions, and provide information.
  • Schedule Appointments: Accurately schedule patient appointments based on clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Manage Patient Information: Collect and enter patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Verify Insurance Coverage: Follow Managed Care Office guidelines to verify insurance coverage and provide resources for patients.
  • Escalate Calls: Partner with and escalate calls to the Referral Nurse Team as a resource to ensure patients receive the right level of care.
  • Document Patient Communications: Document and route patient communications appropriately, including escalating calls according to established guidelines.
  • Perform Administrative Tasks: Collect and scan medical records, fax release of information requests, and perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field: Preferred.
  • Relevant Experience in Healthcare and/or Contact Center: Preferred.
